Alternative Learning Options

Davis Connect 

Davis School District students in grades 7-12 can sign up for online courses through Davis Connect. Courses are free to the student with the exception of summer courses and courses with a class fee. Students can take classes either:

During the school year: (must contact your SDJH counselor directly).

1. In addition to your regular school day schedule during the school year (all 8 classes in person plus online classes).
2. As a supplement to your regular school day schedule (some classes online and some classes in person).
3. For credit recovery or grade replacement

OR

During the summer: (must sign up via Davis Connect directly). 
**Davis Connect sends a parent email in May

1. To earn graduation credit. Graduation credit can only be earned once a student finishes their 8th grade year. Summer courses taken the summer before 9th grade DO count towards graduation.
2. To remove a required class from their in-person schedule for the upcoming school year.
3. For credit recovery or grade replacement.

Utah Statewide Online Education Program (SOEP)

The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) website provides a list of online schooling options outside the Davis School District. Students can take classes from state certified providers through this program.

Please keep in mind that this list contains the ONLY accredited online schools in Utah.

Northridge Learning Center

Northridge Learning Center (NLC) is an independent company that allows high school students to complete classes for both credit replacement and original high school credit. Students can register for classes by contacting NLC directly. NLC is not affiliated with Davis School District.

Classes cost money and are generally $50 per .25 credits ($100 per semester class or $200 per full year class). **Pricing information can be found on their website and is subject to change.**

Credit Recovery:

1. Opportunity for students who originally received a failing grade (F grade) in a course for grades 9-12.
2. Students must finish the portion of the course that was not completed until a passing grade is reached (minimum of 60%). 
(For Example: If a student earned 40% in the original course, they must complete an additional 20% to reach the minimum 60% passing requirement).
3. Once the student has completed the required assignments, the graduation credit will be added to the student's transcript. This puts the student back on track for high school graduation.
4. The original "F" grade on the transcript will not be adjusted, meaning the student's GPA sees no change, even after credit recovery has been completed.

Credit Replacement:

1. Opportunity for students who would like to replace a grade in a course for grades 7-12.
2. Students must retake the entire term(s) of the course for which they are trying to replace a grade.
3. Once the student has completed the course, the student's transcript will be updated to show the highest grade earned. The class will only show on the transcript one time.
(Note: If a student in grades 9-12 failed the original course (F grade), their graduation credit will be restored to their transcript in addition to the grade update). 
4. The student's GPA will be adjusted accordingly.
