Credit Replacement
Course Grade Replacement State rule provides students the opportunity to improve and replace grades on a transcript without penalty or acknowledgement of prior performance. Students that complete a repeat a course with a higher grade may have the prior course and grade excluded from their transcript.
Students who seek credit replacement for a course that was not failed (earned a grade of D- or better) may repeat a course to improve the grade, but may not earn additional credit toward graduation by repeating the course. If a higher grade is earned during the repeat of the course, the original grade and course are removed from the student’s transcript. If the same grade or a lower grade is earned, the original course and grade will remain on the student's transcript and the repeat course will not be added.
Process for Credit Replacement:
1. Students may enroll in comparable course that fulfills the same graduation credit requirement as the course for which the student seeks to improve the grade. A comparable course is defined as a course of the same length, covering the same course content.
2. Students must enroll in a course through an accredited program, regardless of format (online, packet, or in-person).
3. Once the course has been completed, the student or guardian should request that official scores, grades, and/or transcripts be sent to the SDJH counseling center.
4. Once SDJH receives official scores, the student's transcript will be updated accordingly.
