Library Guidelines and Policies

Mission:

The SDJH Spartan Library exists to provide informational resources for teachers and students, to assist students in developing literacy and research skills, and to provide recreational reading opportunities that will lead to a lifelong love of reading.

As a member of the Davis School District, the Spartan Library follows DSD Library Media Center Policy and Procedures concerning collection development and parental rights. These documents are available on the district web page.


Hours of Operation

Monday – Thursday    7:45 AM to 3:15 PM                 

Friday                           7:45 AM to 2:00 PM

Closed when school is not in session.

Closed during lunch if a class is scheduled.

Library Usage:

The library is available for quiet study, reading, and research.
Students wishing to use the library during class time must have a note from their teacher.
The library is open during Plus Period for those students with white tickets. Students with colored tickets may use the library with a permission sticker from a teacher.
No food, gum, candy, or drinks are allowed in the library.


Circulation:

SDJH students may check out books for 20 school days.
Books may be renewed if needed.
Holds can be placed on titles that are currently checked out.
Overdue materials are fined10¢ per day per item.
Damaged materials may be charged a repair or replacement fine.
Lost books will be charged at the replacement cost plus a $1 processing fee.
Lost books will be charged any overdue fines up until the day the book is reported as lost.
If a lost book comes back after 30 days, the fine will not be refunded.


Services:

The library catalog is online and can search for web sites as well as library books.
Students can log in to the library catalog from home using their student ID and PIN.
The Destiny Quest mobile app is available for Apple and Android devices.
Assistance with word processing and researching is available.
Wi-Fi service is available to those with a District login account.
Reading recommendations can be requested.
Please ask permission before printing or using the copy machine.
Double-sided b/w laser printing is available for school assignments.
Limited photocopies are available free for school assignments.
Limited personal photo copies may be made for 5¢ per page.
